The International Human Rights Art Festival

The International Human Rights Art Festival is thrilled to announce its 2019 Festival, co-produced by and held at the Wild Project, from December 9-18, 2019. We are looking for performance pieces of all disciplines as well as short plays (10-20 minutes) by NYC-based artists, which are built around a social concern. We are especially interested in work exhibiting the values of beauty, sincerity, vulnerability and engagement. Please send a description, links, resume and any other information which might be of help in our decision to humanrightsartfestival@gmail.com. Deadline is June 1, 2019.
Selected submissions will receive a tech rehearsal, full tech support, PR and marketing as part of the festival and a prime spot in this year’s event. There is a performer stipend, and no submission fee.

The International Human Rights Art Festival is a growing initiative to connect artists, activists, politicians, social and religious leaders, and community members with art events throughout New York City and around the world. We highlight artists whose work is inspired by a social concern, and base their art in quality, personal sincerity, commitment to beauty and an open-hearted vulnerability: advocacy art based in the mystical/activist “I am” or “I should,” as opposed to the political/religious/oppositional “you are” or “you should.”

We open space for healing, reflection and engagement with those we agree with, as well as others who might seem foreign.

WNYC, New York City’s flagship public radio station, is the media partner of the International Human Rights Art Festival.
