Opening Reception: Saturday, September 26th 6-8pm  

This fall, The Holes, the new play by Max Wolf Friedlich, will extend beyond the stage with an exhibition curated by Ward and Spielzeug at Wild Project.

The exhibition will officially open on Saturday, September 26, with a free and public gallery opening from 6:00–8:00 PM, ahead of that evening’s 8:00 PM performance of The Holes. 

Ward and Spielzeug built the exhibition in direct conversation with The Holes, taking the play’s title and central tensions—shame against desire, tradition against progress, and community against individualism—and handing them to a group of artists whose practices have explored similar themes. The resulting exhibition offers a second reading of the play’s material through another artistic medium. Audiences encounter the work on their way into the theater and again as they leave, allowing the exhibition to frame their experience of The Holes on the way in and, in turn, be reframed by the play on the way out. 
The featured artists include Praise Fuller, Karla Zurita, Trinity Bavaria, Sam Waxman, Carolyne Loreé Teston, John Singletary, and Maggie Dunlap.
