WO(e)RD’s “On the Verge”

Actress and downtown personality, Heather Litteer expands her beloved WO(e)RD reading series into a full, four-night festival of art and entertainment called ON THE VERGE. Litter started WO(e)RD (Women of Experience Read Downtown) more than a decade ago to highlight femme and non-binary artists that “walk a bit off the beaten path and color outside the lines.” Her new festival aims to do the same and will bring together women from a diverse range of backgrounds and creative disciplines. WO(e)RD-ON THE VERGE will provide a platform for exciting women to meet, experiment, collaborate, and inspire one another through the sharing of ideas in a positive environment. Litteer’s intent with the festival is to cultivate a safe place for expression and risk taking that is free from societal restraints.

Heather Litteer (Creator, Curator, Host) Heather Litteer is an actress and has been a vital member of the downtown performance, alternative cabaret & indy film scene working with Jane Campion, Mary Harron, and Darren Aronofsky. She is the curator and producer or WOeRD Women of Experience Read Downtown On the Verge Festival Heather is the recipient of 2017 HOWL! Arts Fellowship and The William and Eva Fox Foundation’s Theatre Communications Group Fox Fellowship in conjunction with La MaMa theatre. She wrote and premiered her one woman show Lemonade at La MaMa. Lemonade went to SFX festival NYC and Edinburgh Fringe and to London’s Playmill Festival at Kings Head Theatre. She is a member of Caden Manson’s critically acclaimed Big Art Group which just EU premiered Broke House at The Venice Biennale 2022. Ms. Litteer has musical collaborations with art rock Rimbaud Hattie and poetry music with L’Tears and her variety show Pleasure Seekers. She is a member of the legendary arthouse performance nightclub The Jackie Factory where she earned the moniker Rabbit.
