Zaniah (@zaniahofficial) is an independent singer-songwriter and musician from Louisville, Kentucky. Growing up in a musical household, she was exposed to different styles, and genres of music where she learned how to play the guitar at 15 years old. Zaniah’s music incorporates elements of jazz, folk, soul and blues pulling inspiration from artists such as Erykah Badu, Janis Ian, Tracy Chapman, Minnie Riperton, Esperanza Spalding and many others. Her melodic sound, extensive range and angelic tone can be described as a timeless contemporary take on R&B with a southern twang. The unique charisma and warm, silky tone of her voice sets her apart as something truly special in today’s musical landscape. She puts heavy emphasis on live instrumentation and musicality with an original, modern approach to achieving a familiar vintage sound that can speak to every generation. She is best known for her recent breakout single “Coffee Bean”, which has surpassed 3 million streams on Spotify. Zaniah relocated to New York in 2021, where she has continued to find and develop her sound by performing live at local venues and collaborating with other artists. She is set to release some new music this upcoming spring and summer.

Sound Stage is a performance initiative that gives the stage back to the community, keeping the spirit of live entertainment strong in the post-pandemic era. There’s a certain quality that intimate shows offer, and there’s power when audiences can actually see and feel the artists up close at our 89-seat theater. This initiative is about the communal connection between people and artmaking at our 89-seat theater in the East Village. New York City is home to an amazing artist community, and that community has uniquely talented people, some of which you may know, and some of which you definitely want to find out about.

Sound Stage @ wild project, launched in 2022, annually presents intimate performances between July & August. This year’s lineup featured comedians, poets, and music artists from around the country, and we are ecstatic to have Brooklyn-based artist Cyrus Aaron as our first curator-in-residence.
