Lynda Starr is a Soul-driven vocalist & songwriter from Brooklyn, NY. Born Youdlyn Moreau, the songstress creates and performs emotionally driven music to connect with audiences. As a classically trained vocalist and songwriter, Starr is knowledgeable in harmonization, vocal arrangements, music theory/composition, and storytelling through her songs.
Ms. Starr began singing at the tender age of 3, and knew in her heart that music was her ultimate passion. She began writing songs at 8 years old and has been honing her craft ever since, whether it is through cultivating joy in performing with the BLK HRS across New York City venues, being a member of Brooklyn Conservatory of Music’s Studio Collective or writing songs for other artists.
Most recently in December 2023, Lynda Starr triumphed as the winner of Warner Music’s Cover Song Contest hosted by Cover Nation, showcasing her talent with a stunning acoustic rendition of Cher’s “Believe.”
2022 was a monumental musical year for Lynda Starr as she was crowned the winner of ESSENCE Fest’s New & Next Artist Competition and was one of the Top 3 Winners of the legendary Apollo Theater’s Amateur Night in May 2022. She captured the ears and hearts of industry heavy-hitters including female Hip-Hop legend Da Brat, TV personality Rocsi Diaz, and has worked with other pioneers including Grandmaster Flash. With a mission to transform lives one song at a time, Lynda Starr is determined to empower, educate, heal and inspire her community and the world through music.
MALÎ
MALÎ. is a Jamaica-born, New York-based singer-songwriter. He is known for making nostalgic, yet futuristic R&B and soul music thanks to songs like “Roll Me Up,” and “Don’t Worry.” & his newest single “I Hate to Ruin This Party…”.
MALÎ has had a passion for music since he was in elementary school, where he’d often write poems about him one day becoming a star. He grew up in a household where music was constantly flowing. His mother was often found singing pop, reggae, and country music. Meanwhile, his sisters sang in the church. Eventually, he also began singing in church throughout his childhood and later went to a performing arts high school.
His artistry also extends beyond being a musician as he is a talented photographer. His interest in this art form piqued during high school, as he didn’t enjoy being in photos but capturing his friends and family made him happy. This same approach is present in his work today as his images are often of his loved ones. This love for photography bleeds into his musical passion, giving him the ability to creatively direct his own projects.
Up next, you can expect an EP from MALÎ. in addition to him helping other artists with writing, creative concepts for shoots, and more. He also has plans of touring in the near future and dreams of collaborating with the likes of Beyoncé, Frank Ocean, Usher, Erykah Badu, and more.
