Sound Stage

Annual Music Series
Sound Stage is a live performance campaign that supports independent artists and promotes the need for community spaces. Annually, we select at least six performance artists, regardless of career status, to take center stage for a live concert at our 89-seat theater in the East Village. Artists are financially compensated for the live performance, and receive tech support, promotional materials, and archival performance footage.
As a ‘Mom & Pop” performance and cultural space, we’ve experienced firsthand how the corporatization of real estate and the arts has made it challenging for artists to have space to perform in public. Sound Stage isn’t about name, notoriety or numbers, it’s about community, connection and cultivating a space for artists to call home. Our Curator-in-Residence is writer and performance artist, Cyrus Aaron.

Sound Stage launched in 2022 and has featured comedians, music artists and poets including: Jeanette Berry, Butterfly Black, Mahogany L. Browne, Comedian CP, Joél Leon, Tonina, The Incredible Drunkertons and Zaniah.
